Female Genital Cosmetic Surgery
At EF MEDISPA we have created a welcoming and relaxing environment that allows our clients to discuss the most intimate subjects with ease. Our patient co-ordinators are specially trained to answer your questions and allow you to make informed decisions on whether to proceed with cosmetic surgery.
This is especially the case with female gynaecological surgery, which many women find more difficult to talk about. There are three main procedures that are available.
- Vaginal Tightening (Vaginoplasty)
Vaginal muscles weaken with age. For women who’ve had children, it is not uncommon for the vaginal muscles to have expanded during childbirth. The effect of ageing or childbirth giving rise to looser muscles can cause embarrassment, sexual dissatisfaction and discomfort. Vaginal tightening tones vaginal muscles, giving greater vaginal strength, control, and contraction. EF MEDISPA’s skilled surgeons have pioneered a technique known as Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation, which uses an advanced laser to improve the shape of the vagina in a fast and simple procedure.
Vaginoplasty improves sexual confidence and can result in improved sexual enjoyment for both partners.
- Labia reduction
Every woman is unique. It is quite common to feel unhappy with the vaginal inner lips (Labia Minora) which can appear uneven or become enlarged with age, through rapid weight loss or after child birth. The skin above the clitoris can also be an area where women seek correction.
With labia reduction your surgeon takes great care to achieve the most natural looking result possible. Laser reduction labioplasty results in a more aesthetically pleasing and youthful appearance, which allows you to have renewed sexual confidence and enhanced sexual satisfaction.
- Hyman repair (Hymenoplasty)
There are many reasons why the hymen may tear. It may be through extreme exercise, accident, sports injury, as well as sexual intercourse. Women often seek to repair the hyman for cultural, social or personal reasons. Using a laser, this treatment can be performed discretely and is undetectable.
FAQs for Female Genital Cosmetic Surgery
“Do I need general anaesthetic”
NO – all these procedures are carried out under “conscious sedation”. This is a form of local anaesthetic, where although you remain conscious, your anaesthetist (who remains with you throughout the procedure) provides you with a sedative so that you are completely calmed and relaxed the whole time. The main advantage of conscious sedation is eliminating the risks of general anaesthetic, reduced recovery time and no need for an overnight hospital stay.
“Is it going to be painful”
“Different people have different pain thresholds and your surgeon will prescribe pain kiilers for your optimum comfort. There will be mild discomfort and swelling which will usually disappear after 1-2 weeks.
“What about aftercare”
EF MEDISPA’s surgeons use soluble sutures, so there is no discomfort from removing stitches. Your surgeon will recommend suitable panty liners and will advise when you can re-commence exercise and sexual intercourse which will be dependent on the actual procedure.
A personal schedule of follow up appointments will be arranged immediately following surgery, so that your surgeon can monitor your progress and you can be confident that you are making a full and speedy recovery.
“Do I need to take time off work”
The procedures will not take more than an hour, although you should plan for a three hour visit to allow for preparation and recovery. Normal downtime would be 2/5 days, but most people would take a week off work to ensure full recovery.
“Will there be any scarring”
In the majority of cases, once healing has taken place, no-one will be able to tell that you have had the procedure.
“Will my partner know that I have had this done”
As with any issues involving sexual relations, it is recommended that you discuss the procedure with your partner. Ultimately, this is designed to benefit your relationship, and your partner should understand this. However, if you are in a new relationship, your new partner will be unlikely to tell that you have had the procedure, apart from experiencing your increased confidence and satisfaction.
“Apart from better sex and more self-confidence and there other benefits”
A torn vagina or prolapsed pelvis can be helped by vaginal surgery. This can reduce the discomfort when wearing tight fitting clothes.
“When can I re-commence sexual activity”
You will normally be advised to refrain from sexual intercourse for a minimum of two weeks, although your surgeon will advise exactly how long you will have to wait when you have your consultation.
