EF MediSpa’s in-house doctor comments ‘Botox will make the lines on your forehead more subtle or even disappear.  You cannot become chemically addicted to Botox , but you might get addicted to the effects. As they are temporary, if you don’t like the result or if you wish to discontinue using it, you just need to wait for it to wear off.’

At EF MediSpa, 10 minutes is all it takes to relax crows feet, forehead lines and frowns - with results that can last up to 5 months before your top-up is due, this is especially effective for:
  • Crows feet
  • Forehead lines
  • Eyebrow lifting
  • Lower face reshaping

Botox FAQ's

You've probably heard a lot about Botox from the media and your friends - the injection that makes you look younger.  There are many questions about Botox such as, what is it and how is it used?  Read on the find some answers.

What is Botox?

Botox is a brand name for the purified form of a plant bacterium called botulinum toxin A. Although Botox is the most well known brand, there are other brands of botulinum toxin which are equally as effective. EF MediSpa's medical aestheticians will be able to advise which is the most suitable for you.

How does Botox work?

When we laugh or frown our brain sends a signal to our muscles to make expression lines appear on our face.   Botox is used to smooth out the expression lines that are caused by those muscles.

Say, for example you had a frown line you wished to get rid of.  To treat this Botox is injected into the muscles surrounding the brow area.  The way Botox works is that it blocks the signals from the nerve to the facial muscles to stop them contracting, leaving the skin looking smooth.

What is the injection process for Botox?

At your consultation, your facial muscles will be examined, so that your specially trained medical practitioner will be able to determine where to administer the injections.  Several tiny injections of Botox will then be injected precisely into the muscles that cause the frown lines.

No anaesthesia is needed though ice may be used to numb the area before and after your Botox treatment.

How long does a Botox treatment take?

This is a simple and quick process lasting aproximately 10 minutes but no longer than half an hour.  It involves no downtime so there is no disruption to your lifestyle.

How long until I see results?

Typically it will take about 10 days before you start to see results, though this may vary.

How long do the results last for?

Results can last from 3-5 months and sometimes longer depending on the individual.

Are there any risks involved?

EF MediSpa's specially trained medical aestheticians will be able to assess whether Botox is right for you during your consultation.  It is important that you disclose current medication at every appointment.

Will Botox work for me?

Clinical trials have shown that nearly 90% of men and women surveyed rated the improvement in the appearance of frown lines between their brows as moderate to better 1 month after the treatment.
