Electro Reflexology

Reflexology, which has been a part of Eastern medicine for thousands of years, is now widely accepted in the West as an effective means to improve health and wellbeing.

In Chinese medicine, good health depends upon balancing the life energy or “Chi”.

The Western approach places more attention on measurable electro-magnetic energy.

Different points in the body have different levels of electrical resistance. Some of these  locations have a lower electrical resistance than surrounding areas. These are typically known as acupuncture points.  When these points are joined together they form a line called a meridian which provides a channel for energy flow. The meridians correspond to organs or energy systems within the body.

Regular treatment on certain acupuncture points helps to harmonise the flow of energy, preventing the onset of illness and promoting the maintenance of good health.

Foot reflexology is a treatment which stimulates points on the soles of the feet to assist in harmonising the flow of energy through the body’s meridians, linking directly to specific organs of the body.

EF MEDISPA’s electro-reflexology treatment provides a safe and stable flow of low frequency energy to stimulate reflex zones, nerves, acupuncture points, muscles and capillaries.

FAQs

What conditions does electro-reflexology treat.

It is an excellent treatment for stimulating the lymph system to improve lymphatic drainage. It is particularly suitable for relieving water retention. It is effective for all conditions that relate to poor circulation. Electro-reflexology is a beneficial whenever a general detox is required.

Does electro-reflexology replace traditional reflexology.

EF MEDISPA offers both traditional manual reflexology and electro-reflexology. The effectiveness of both treatments are based upon the same principles. Which treatment is appropriate mainly depends on personal preference. Some people prefer the pressure of manual reflexology instead of the tingling of electro-reflexology. Whilst others prefer electro-reflexology because the impulses can be easily and precisely calibrated.

At EF MEDISPA we would usually recommend traditional manual reflexology as part of a foot massage treatment for those who find a foot massage particularly relaxing. Whilst we recommend electro-reflexology in a combination with electro-lymphatic drainage or after colonic hydrotherapy, for whole body well being or when there are particular health issues that you wish to address.

Are there any contra-indications

We do not recommend the treatment for pregnant women. Please consult your therapist if you have had recent surgery, have a history of heart disease, have a pace-maker or have been diagnosed with a malignant tumour.

Will I notice an immediate effect

Some people may notice an immediate improvement, whilst for others, a series of treatments may be needed. Occasionally there may be a deterioration in symptoms before any improvements are observed. This is quite normal as the body deals with the underlying health problem whilst you de-tox. We normally recommend a course of treatments to gain the full benefit. Your therapist will be able to recommend the number and duration of the treatments.
