Vaser, to film or not to film!

March 21st, 2009

It’s all so very last minute. Channel 4 are filming a show on male beauty the aim is to put their presenter, Tim Shaw of 5th gear fame, up against the latest aesthetic devices. There are four episodes and the episode they want to film at EF MediSpa is to do with VASER, a form of Lipo referred to as LipoSelection, more on that later.

We were approached with this on Wednesday the 18th and although it was extremely short notice we agreed to do it, now all we have to do is find a model! A short list was presented to the doctor within hours but the only problem was that the male models although weren’t Adonis’s, their bodies were already so lean that results would be minimal, defeating the point. The shortlist was eventually narrowed down to two. The following day the doctor had a consultation with the two finalists and chooses one. So far so good.

Friday, morning, EARLY!!! Natasha, head of EF MediSpa marketing gets a phone call. Due to channel 4 scheduling they want to bring the air date forward, shouldn’t be a problem… However, this now means they want to film a reveal of the model sooner than originally mentioned. PROBLEM!!!
VASER results are gradual and although you will see a marked difference immediately after the procedure, good results wont begin to show until the 6th week.

None of us are happy about the scheduling change, it is also questioned as to whether or not we now want to go ahead with the show.

All of us felt it would not be a fair reflection of EF MediSpa, VASER, and Dr Grant Hamlet. So as of 11 am Friday morning we were not filming and canceled the model.

Ten past 11, and both Natasha’s phones are ringing off the hook, she looked as though she was at a trading desk… The calls were between the PR, production company, Dr Grant Hamlet, and Esther (EF MediSpa founder) who just so happened to be out of the country making things all that much easier.

The thing was that they really wanted to film the VASER LipoSelection procedure as it is the most highly rated technology in the UK for Lipo, and the best to go up against the presenter.

So by about quarter to three in the afternoon there is some kind of agreement between all parties.

Filming, Monday, back on, SORTED!

Seven minutes to four the model has backed out as he didn’t want his face shown on TV!!!! EXCELLENT!!!
All eyes now turn to me…

Truth be told, inside my head I was jumping at the opportunity, however on the exterior I was down playing as I wanted to come across a little cooler…

I remember when I was first looking at the VASER with Grant(Dr) and we were looking at the results I was highly impressed, although somewhat skeptical. Grant assured me that the results were real. I remarked that if that was the case, then I would get it done.
I was suddenly taken in to the consultation room for a quick once over where I got the nod of approval.
VASER versus Tim is now back on.

Do you have a video of that TV show with EF MediSpa? I had a look at the blog but I could not find any video.
