What is Vaser?

Vaser Lipo, is an advanced procedure that removes unwanted body fat whilst contouring the body at the same time.  Hailed as an alternative to the harsh techniques of traditional liposuction, Vaser Lipo uses advanced ultrasound technology  to gently reshape your body in a much less aggressive yet effective way that requires much less downtime. 

How does Vaser differ from Liposuction?

The advanced Vaser Lipo technique can distinguish between healthy tissue, nerves and blood vessels from the targeted fat to be removed.  The targeted fat can therefore be removed whilst preserving healthy tissue and allowing for rapid healing which traditional Lipo is unable to achieve.

How does Vaser Lipo work?

The selected area to be reshaped is filled with a specific type of saline solution numbing the area and shrinking the blood vessels,  helping to reduce blood loss and bruising.  This also makes  it easier for the fatty tissue to be broken up by Vaser ultrasound energy.   A small probe is inserted into the selected area  and ultrasound energy is transmitted (similar to that used for cataract removal from the eye) to break up fatty tissue  while preserving other important tissues.  Finally, a gentle suction process removes the liquefied fat whilst keeping  damage to the surrounding tissue at a minimum. 

What body areas can be treated with Vaser?

Any part of the body can be treated by Vaser Lipo.  Particularly popular areas include: abdomen, love handles, male chests, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, back, arms, chin and neck areas.

How much fat can be removed with Vaser?

There are limits to how much fatty tissue can be safely taken from the body. During your complimentary consultation at EF MediSpa you will find out what Vaser  Lipo can do for you and how much fat can be removed.  Please keep in mind that this procedure is not intended as a weight loss solution. The goal is to create a slimmer and more defined silhouette.

Where is Vaser performed?

Vaser is performed at EF MediSpa's Kensington clinic which has a specially designed treatment room licensed by the Healthcare Commission.  EF MediSpa is open 7 days a week, which means there is always someone on hand to answer your queries after the procedure, and we operate a weekend clinic for client's who work during the week.

Who will perfrom the procedure?

EF MediSpa has a dedicated team of surgeons specifically trained to perform Vaser, and expert nurses who are experienced in surgical aftercare, so you can be confident that you will always be in capable hands.

How soon will I see my results after having Vaser?

Results can vary with every individual, the amount of fat removed, the number of areas treated, and so on.  Though many have reported they see results immediately after the procedure, it may take up to 3-6 months to see a final result.  It is important that you establish realistic expectations through discussion during your consultation at EF MediSpa.

Can I gain weight after having Vaser? If so does the fat migrate to other areas?

After having Vaser, should you experience weight gain or loss, it will tend to be proportionately distributed over your entire body. Once you have fat removed with Vaser it is gone, however maintaining a healthy lifestyle through proper diet and exercise is required in order for the fat not return or migrate. Normal ageing changes can also be expected.

Is Vaser right for me?

Smart Lipo FAQ'S

You may have heard about Smart Lipo - that it's a modern, pain free alternative to the traditional Liposuction. Or you may have read a little about Smart Lipo but are unsure and would like to learn more. At EF MediSpa we consider it a priority to educate our clients about all procedures that we do, so you can feel safe and comfortable with all the choices you make. This is why we have put together some frequently asked questions about Smart Lipo which should help separate Fact from Myth.

What is Smart Lipo?

Smart Lipo (or laser lipolysis to use its medical jargon) is a minimally invasive procedure using a laser to melt unwanted fat. The media refers to Smartlipo or Laser Lipo for this procedure, although sometimes, the term is used generally for other procedures that do not use lasers - so it is important to understand exactly what the press are referring to whne describing fat reduction techiniques.

Unlike liposuction which removes fat but requires major surgery and can result in saggy skin where the fat has been removed, Smart Lipo allows the melted fat to be eliminated by the body's natural processes.

What does the procedure involve?

Heated to 45°C the laser melts the membranes of each fat cell, causing them to break down. The fat, now liquid, is naturally dispersed by the body over a period of 12 to 16 weeks. It is so much more gentle and the gradual reduction means that the body contours as the fat is eliminated, so the skin remains firm in the area where the fat has been.

What is the new Aspiration technique?

A few clinics in the UK which specialise in Smart Lipo have been licensed to use the new Aspiration technique. EF MediSpa is one of the few clinics in London to offer Smartlipo with Aspiration. The main advantage of this technique is that some of the melted fat is removed at the same time as the procedure. This means that you will see results instantly rather than waiting, which is ideal if you want immediate results for a forthcoming special event. It is also the recommended procedure for larger areas of fat removal, such as around the abdomen.

How effective is it?

With the Aspiration technique you start to see results immediately. Normally with Smartlipo the main impact is seen over a period of 12 to 16 weeks, according to one's metabolism, as the fat is gradually eliminated. If a large amount of fat is to be removed, a series of treatments is normally recommended. At your complimentary consultation, EFMediSpa's medical director will advise whether instant fat removal with Aspiration would be possible for the areas you wish to be treated.

How long does the treatment take?

The actual procedure may take from 30-180 minutes depending upon how many areas are being covered. Although most clients return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure, some prefer to choose a day when they have time to relax afterwards.

How about side effects?

Very occasionally, there may be a temporary reddening of the skin around the area that has been treated. Mild bruising may occur depending on the areas being treated. These effects may be more noticeable when using Aspiration.

Does it hurt?

A local anaesthetic is used. There may be a sensation of tugging and some people experience a minor stinging. The doctor was very, very good and the staff very helpful and very friendly."

Does it last forever?

Who will carry out the procedure?

There are many well qualified surgeons in the UK who may occasionally perform the Smartlipo procedure as well as other general surgical procedures. As Smart Lipo uses a highly powered specially tuned laser, at EF MediSpa, we have been chosen surgeons who specialise in laser work. EF MediSpa's surgeons have carried out over 1000 Smart Lipo procedures over the past 2 years.

Are there any alternatives to Smart Lipo?

Smart Lipo may not be suited to you for a variety of reasons. When you have a consultation at EF MediSpa, you will be offered a range of options. Esther Fieldgrass built her reputation on providing excellent client service, and she has made sure that EF MediSpa has a wide variety of treatments to assist with fat reduction and body sculpting. At your consultation, we will be able to recommend the most appropriate treatment for you.

Do I need to go to a hospital for the Smart Lipo procedure?

Esther's vision when she designed EF MediSpa was to create a pleasing environment for medical aesthetic treatments – "clinical yet comfortable". When you visit EF MediSpa for your consultation, you will be impressed with the relaxing setting designed for clients to feel at ease. In the UK, the Smart Lipo procedure can only be performed in premises that have been especially approved by the Healthcare Commission. The minor ops suite at EFMediSpa in Kensington was purpose built for the Smart Lipo procedure and is registered with the Healthcare Commission as an independent hospital, so you will be able to have the procedure in the same convenient location as your consultation.

Lunchtime Lipo?

The media picked up on this phrase to sum up the convenience of the Smart Lipo procedure. Our goal is to provide a simple trouble free treatment with minimal downtime, so firstly, our location is easy to find (a few minutes from either High Street Kensington or Notting Hill Gate underground, on several bus routes and easy parking nearby). Secondly, your consultation and the procedure are in the same convenient location.

Depending upon how many areas are being treated, the procedure will normally take 90-180 minutes, starting with a full consultation with the surgeon. It is quite normal for clients to return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure. EF MediSpa operates a weekend clinic for those who work during the week and would prefer to relax after the procedure.

What is the cost?

Smart Lipo is very favourably priced compared with the alternatives of full surgical liposuction or non-invasive body sculpting treatments. EF MediSpa can provide flexible payment terms (including interst free credit, subject to status). Prices may vary at different clinics for a variety of reasons. Some clinics may be using lower cost equipment instead of the original Deka Smartlipo ndYag laser.
