Breast Implants then you will no doubt be aware of the myths surrounding them. It’s not always easy to know which are true and which are false, so in this blog we will be debunking the 5 most common myths surrounding breast implants.
Myth 1: All implants look fake
This is of course false. During your initial consultation with your Surgeon you will be able to discuss the size and shape of your breasts to ensure you get the results you’re after, whether that’s a more natural shape, or not.
Myth 2: My implants will need to be replaced often
Many clients that come to us have a preconception that their implants will need to be replaced every 10 years, however this is one of the biggest misconceptions about breast implants. Most implants will come with a 10 years’ warranty, however if your implants are not leaking, there is no unusual swelling or tenderness and you’re still happy with the size and shape of them then there is no need for you to have them replaced.
Myth 3: Underwire bras cannot be worn with implants
During the recovery period after your breast implants we advise you not to wear underwired bras, and instead you will be advised on surgical bras to help aid your recovery and ensure your breasts heal correctly. However, after 6 weeks you will be able to wear underwired and push-up bras.
Myth 4: You can’t breast feed after implants
This is one of the biggest myths going around about breast implants, just because you’ve had a breast augmentation does not mean that you will not be able to breast feed your children. There are certain methods of breast augmentation that can make it more difficult, for example if your implant is over the muscle, it can put pressure on your glandular tissue, which can make it more difficult to produce enough milk for you baby. However, implants do not mean that you will not be able to breast feed.
Myth 5: Breast implants feel hard
Whilst breast implants may feel firmer than your breasts did before, there is a misconception of them being hard. Breast Implants should feel like natural breasts, and often, those that do not know you have had a boob job would not necessarily notice.
