You have been good all year; you have kept to your exercise regime, you eat lots of greens and look after your skin. Now Christmas is looming and there is the risk of throwing it all out of the window in favour of mince pies, alcohol and days spent slobbing on the sofa. But it doesn’t have to be that way! We have teamed up with personal trainers-to-the-stars Matt Roberts to give you our top tips on looking and feeling great whilst still enjoying yourself this festive period! Line your stomach The first tip is that it is always best to eat something before you head out for Christmas parties, trips or family events. Doing so will leave you less tempted to eat a lot and prevent you from overindulging. iStock_000029291356_Large Avoid skipping meals It can be tempting to skip certain meals when you are juggling work and a busy schedule, especially when you think it will make up for the treats you consumed the previous day. Skipping meals only leads to counterproductive results.   007 Dose up on your vitamins! The combination of bad weather, late nights and excessive alcohol consumption can leave you vulnerable to feeling laid low with a cold or fatigue. You might be tempted to use lightweights and just do a quick bit of cardio, however remember you can burn just as many or more calories by lifting weights! Workout early in the morning while everyone else is still sleeping. This way you will avoid skipping workouts later on in the day when others say “Oh, come on! It’s Christmas!”     Don’t let your skin suffer You look after your skin all year round and now is not the time to drop the ball when it comes to skincare. No matter how late you get in, always remove your make up before you go to bed and stick to your regime. Need help? An example would be to aim for at least half an hour of exercise each day. Enjoy this festive period and don’t completely restrain yourself from eating certain foods, it will only make you eat more. Feel free to enjoy the treats that you really love, but in small portions.
