RF Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy. Ultra-fine needles create tiny channels in the skin to set off its natural healing, and radiofrequency heat is delivered through them into the layers beneath. The heat makes collagen contract for an immediate tightening effect and triggers new collagen and elastin, so it improves texture and firmness in the same treatment.

It treats fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars and other scars, enlarged pores, uneven tone and texture, sagging skin, stretch marks, loose or crepey skin on the body and cellulite. It can be used on the face, including around the eyes and lips, and on the neck, décolletage, abdomen, arms, inner thighs and legs.

A numbing cream is applied before treatment so you are comfortable. Most clients describe a warm prickling that is easy to manage, and your practitioner adjusts the intensity to your comfort throughout. Afterwards your skin feels warm and tight, a little like sunburn.

Most people are back at work the next day. Your skin looks red and feels warm, a little like sunburn, and this usually settles within two to three days. RF Microneedling does not rely on a laser wavelength or on targeting pigment, so it can suit a wide range of skin tones, including darker skin. It is not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have epilepsy, have an active skin infection in the treatment area, or have metal implants in the area, such as metalwork after a facial fracture or metal braces. Simple fillings are not a problem. We take a full medical history at your consultation and only go ahead if it is safe and right for you.

Avoid the sun for at least 24 hours before and stop using active skincare ingredients 1 to 2 weeks before. Drink plenty of water in the week leading up to your appointment. If you are prone to cold sores, take antiviral medication 2 days before. You can shave the area the day before if needed, but not on the day, and avoid waxing, epilating, tweezing or laser in the weeks leading up to treatment.

Your skin will be sensitive to the sun, so avoid direct sun for at least a week and wear SPF 30 or above every day. Avoid hot baths, saunas and vigorous exercise for at least 3 days, cleanse with a gentle, hydrating cleanser and avoid active ingredients for at least 5 days, and skip make-up for 24 to 48 hours. Stay hydrated, and a cold compress helps with any swelling or discomfort.

Yes. A chemical peel 4 to 6 weeks before helps prepare the skin.
