SPF is a must This won’t be the first time you’ve heard it, and we’re sure it won’t be the last, but wearing SPF when skiing is extremely important. Although the air might be cool and crisp, the UV rays are extremely strong up in the mountains, and even if it’s cloudy or snowing, your skin is still expose to them. Don’t forget your lips Our lips are very sensitive to the sun and the cold weather, meaning many will find their lips to be sore and chapped when skiing. That’s why we always recommend applying your SPF face cream to your lips, and carrying a moisturising lip treatment with you at all times on the slopes! Our favourite repairing lip product is Biologique Recherche BioKiss, the non-sticky formula has a nourishing effect on the lips, preventing external aggression from causing them to become dry. Layer up One of the best ways to protect your skin from damages that can be caused when skiing is to ensure you’re wrapped up. This may sound obvious, but wearing a scarf, snood, or a balaclava will not only keep you warm but it’ll also protect your neck and the bottom of your face from the harmful UV rays. The sunlight bounces off the snow onto the mountains and increases the UV rays by up to 40%, so protecting again the sun is as many ways as you can is vital. Rehydrate! After spending a week (or even a couple of days) out skiing, your skin will be feeling the repercussions, especially if you’re more of an après skier. Many feel their skin becomes dehydrated and can even suffer breakouts if they’ve been enjoying a post-ski drink. However, not it’s not only the cold weather and drinking that can cause your skin to dry out, but also the central heating in hotels/chalets. The sudden change in temperatures from freezing cold outside, to warm inside causes the skin to become very dry and tight.
