What happens during the procedure

During the process of fat transfer surgery, you will be put under conscious sedation with the treatment taking between 2-3 hours to complete. Fat transfer surgery at EF MEDISPA is a same-day procedure as it doesn’t require general anaesthesia and has minimal downtime.

Your surgeon will make a small incision to the area from which you want to remove the fat. A small probe is inserted which will safely transmit ultrasound waves which are used to liquefy the fat. The liquefied fat is then gently removed and reinserted in the form of injections, directly into the parts of the body you wish to accentuate or smooth. The results will give you a more sculpted and contoured figure without the need for silicone implants or a long period of downtime.

How long is the recovery time?

As it doesn’t require an overnight stay or any general anaesthetic, fat transfer London surgery has minimal downtime. Depending on how your health and lifestyle are being maintained after surgery you can expect to return to work within 3-14 days approximately. You will be provided with a ‘compression garment’ to wear to help the healing process and enhance results. Wearing this will also ensure pockets of fluid do not form, as well as offering added support and comfort.

How long you will need to wear the ‘compression garment’ depends on the area that has been treated and can vary between clients. You will not require any future surgery post-fat transfer, however, 5-10 aftercare sessions will be required. Before the procedure

During the procedure

Fat Transfer London surgery is performed under conscious sedation. A small incision will be made to the area being treated, with then a small probe being inserted which will transmit ultrasound waves that will liquefy the fat. This excess fat will be gently sucked out and removed from the area by the doctor and then re-injected into the area you want to accentuate.
After the procedure

Once Fat Transfer surgery is completed, you will have time to relax and unwind in the recovery suite, where the Nurses will fit you into the compression garment. You will also be prescribed painkillers and antibiotics by the Doctor. There is no overnight stay required and you may leave the same day. EF MEDISPA ensures your aftercare is taken care of, with our medical team making sure you receive the correct level of treatment to aid recovery. You will be given an aftercare programme and you will have the chance to have ultrasound, manual and electro lymphatic massages and other treatments if you wish. Your aftercare programme will be discussed with your Treatment Co-ordinator, Doctor and Nurses before and after surgery.
